Fall is my favourite season! Yea Summer is awesome cus there’s lots to do and the weather is great, but Fall is beautiful, the leaves change colours, the weather cools down and it’s time to get cozy! On top of all the Pumpkin Patches, Apple Orchards and Corn Mazes you can go to (see my list of Fall Things To Do here), here’s a rundown of what’s going on in and around Vancouver this weekend:
Saturday, October 13th
In Surrey, kids may love the idea of staying up past bed-time to do the Flashlight Mysteries at Surrey Bend Regional Park. Starts at 6pm. Solve a nighttime mystery on a lantern lit walk! It’s a free, all ages and drop in kind of event.
In Vancouver, the Apple Festival at UBC Botanical Gardens is a family event for all ages. Taste all kinds of different apples, jump in the gigantic leaf pile and say hello to the farm animals. Bring cash, because admission is $5/per adult (children under 12 are free) and to access the tasting tent is $5/per person.
Calling all wizards! At all Indigo & Chapters locations dress up as your favourite Harry Potter character and experience some magical fun at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter! Plus, build your own LEGO snitch to take home!
In North Van, Maplewood Farm’s most popular event, “Behind the Scenes” gives kids a wonderful experience being a farmer at Maplewood Farm. Activities include egg collection and washing, animal grooming, setting up feed and exploring “Staff Only” areas. Sessions go for about one hour. You’ll need to register beforehand at Maplewoodfarm.bc.ca
Sunday, October 14th
There are farmers markets on at Ambleside, Coquitlam, Kits and White Rock. Pick up fresh produce and fresh bread (YUM) at the market, then head over to a park and have a picnic!
In Langley, Harvest GLOW is now open. It’s an indoor, autumn themed attraction with pumpkins, sparkly lights and kid friendly activities. It’s at Milner Village Garden Centre. Book your time slot and buy your tickets online at glowgardens.com.
