Mindblowing: See “Dunkirk” in Omnimax…?!
I saw the amazing “Dunkirk” at the legendary Mann’s Chinese Theater in L.A. this summer in Imax and it was unreal. It’s the biggest-grossing WWII movie of all time and my son Sam and I agreed it was the best movie without a plot we’d ever seen. That’s not a slam. If you’ve seen it, you know it doesn’t follow a conventional storyline but is an unbelievable, amazing spectacle. And now it’s in the middle of a limited engagement in OMNIMAX (no less) at Science World.
Hundreds of thousands of Allied soldiers retreated to Dunkirk during the fall of France in 1940 when Nazi Germany made its advance. Surrounded by the enemy, troops were slowly and desperately evacuated from the beach at Dunkirk using every naval and civilian vessel that could be used.
By the end of the evacuation, 330,000 British, Belgian, French, and Dutch soldiers were evacuated to Britain.
IMAX’s high-resolution cameras were used for the film, and Science World’s OMNIMAX screen will allow audiences to take in a greater scope and breathtaking image quality.
Science World’s screenings of Dunkirk will be in IMAX 70mm film, and it will show audiences up to 40% more of the image. The Science World screen is five storeys high and 27 metres wide.
It’s on for 3 more nights (Tuesday December 5 to Thursday, December 7, 2017). Tix are $18 adult, $15 for Seniors and children and available here.
Tickets: $18.00 for adult; $15.00 for child and senior. Available here.
