Sign Rejection Contributes to Delay in Morgan Wallen’s Bar Opening

Nashville Council members have voted against Morgan Wallen’s neon bar sign.

Wallen is set to open his very own Nashville Honky called ‘This Bar”. He announced his new business  venture in February via social media. “This Bar” was set to open last weekend, which is memorial day long weekend in the states.

Wallen was planning on having a 20 foot sign outside of his bar for opening weekend. When the request was brought to Nashville Council members, the majority voted against the sign due to Wallen’s recent controversies. His alleged action of throwing a chair off of Eric Church’s rooftop bar ultimately led to the rejection.

Council member Delishia Porterfield explained her decision by saying “We want to make sure that Nashville was a supportive place for everyone, so I don’t want to see a billboard with the name of a person who’s throwing chairs off of balconies and who is saying racial slurs, using the n-word, so I’m voting no,”.

Morgan Wallen subtly responded to the Nashville Council’s sign rejection.

The “Whiskey Glasses” singer posted a photo to his Instagram story of one of his sold out shows in Nashville Tennessee. Fans feel that the post with no writing is Wallen’s way of showing the city council that his actions have not effected his ticket sales and overall popularity.

He has been silent on the status of his bar since the subtle Instagram story. Fans we’re not notified of the opening date delay. Many fans took to social media to express frustration as they had made the trip to Nashville to attend the bar opening.

Wallen’s restaurant partner the TC Restaurant Group released a statement to The Washington Post about the delay saying “When we open, we want This Bar to be an exceptional experience for guests. Unfortunately, the process requires more time, and we are not able to open and provide that experience this Memorial Day weekend. Rest assured it will be well worth the wait. We look forward to welcoming guests soon.”.
