The “Outskirts” singer finally confirmed the new song’s release date two days later on Wednesday (March 20th).
Hunt shared some photos from behind the scenes of the music video captioning the post “Locked Up.. 3•22•24”.
In the music video Hunt takes inspiration from Johnny Cash’s prison performances. Hunt is seen dressed in a black suit with slicked back hair performing for inmates at what seems to be a jail. His Wife Hannah Lee Fowler is also in the music video channeling June Carter Cash supporting hunt.
Hunt chronicles his life the last couple years in the lyrics of the song. Hunt has notably had some run ins with the law and troubles in his relationship with wife Hannah.
“The night I got locked up / Everything went wrong / The night I got messed up / Should’ve just stayed home / Picked up my phone / What can I say I thought that you’d walk away / But you stood by your man / Tammy Wynette / It hit the fan / You could’ve just quit / Nah, but you showed me love / You didn’t go when the goin’ got tough / The night I got locked up,” Hunt sings with both regret and recognition to his wife Hannah Lee Fowler.
“Locked Up” is out now and available on all streaming platforms!
