Tough news about the health of Alan Jackson

Yesterday Alan Jackson revealed he has a neurological disease called Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disorder. Heโs had it for a while but waited until now to say something because itโs affecting how he moves on stage, and he wants people to know why.
The disease is (ironically) known as CMT and it affects the nerves and muscles and gets worse over time.
He said, quote, โIโve been reluctant to talk about it, but itโs been awhile and itโs starting to affect my performance on stage, and I want [everyone] to know. I donโt want people thinking Iโm drunk on stage because Iโm having problems with mobility and balance.โ
Itโs a disease that runs in the family. Quote, โMy daddy had it and [my] grandmother had it, and my sister whoโs ten years older than me has it, and she doesnโt get around too good now. Itโs been affecting me for years, and itโs getting more and more obviousโฆI just want people to know thatโs why I look like I do if theyโre wondering. I donโt want to appear like some whiny celebrity.โ
Itโs not fatal but it will eventually disable him. Quote, โI donโt want people to be sad for me at all . . . itโs just part of life. Iโve had a wonderful, beautiful life. Iโve been so blessed. Itโs just good to put it out there in the open.โ Alan is 62.
Hereโs the portion of the โTodayโ interview where he revealed the news:
