The lack of Country Artists on the Superbowl Stage
Can you believe that not ONE country music act has graced the Superbowl Halftime Stage since Shania back in 2003?
How can some of our favorite artists not get any attention in over 16 years? Prior to that was 1994, with a power group: Clint Black, Tanya Tucker, Travis Tritt and The Judds.
Yes, there have been anthem singers including Charlie Pride in 1974, Garth Brooks in 1993, Faith Hill in 2000, The Dixie Chicks in 2004 and Carrie Underwood in 2010 but I’m talking full-fledged, multi-million dollar halftime productions, DANG IT!
It’s not like there’s a lack of country artists who would absolutely pump up the crowd. The options are endless:
GARTH? Hello? Most obvious first choice. What abouuuut Eric Church? Tim & Faith? Florida Georgia Line? Brooks & Dunn with Reba? Brothers Osbourne? Keith Urban & Carrie Underwood (who already sings the theme song for Sunday Night Football)…. I could go on allllll day.
For a little 2003 throwback – here’s Shania’s performance. What a babe!
