No Child Support Payments, No Drivers License
If you owe, or are owed child/spousal support, you should know changes could be coming in the next couple of months!
The BC Government is looking at making it harder for you to drive if you owe money for child or spousal support. In fact, if you owe $3000 or more your drivers license could be cancelled. If you don’t make payments, you could also be in a position where you can’t renew your passport.
Will this help? Maybe, but some people have some legitimate concerns with this new legislation. If someone owes money, but doesn’t need a license, it won’t force them to pay any faster. Also, if they need a license to get to work, to make money, to pay that child/spousal support, it will make things worse, not better.
If this change is put into effect it could happen in the next three months.
