Sugarland is back with their first new single in 5 years!
Grammy award winning duo, Sugarland announced the upcoming release of a new single, “Still the Same.” This will be their first single in 5 years. Jennifer Nettles said, “The title of the song is so meaningful to us as we want fans to know, we are still the same, we are still the same Sugarland they’ve known and loved”. Jennifer also told People.com that their four-year separation is over, at least for the time being. She said, “I . . . feel like from a timing perspective it’s like, ‘Okay, let’s get back together and see what we have to offer to this project now.’ We’ll continue to float in and out of those two realms between Sugarland and in our own stuff at this point.”
During their time apart, both Jennifer and Kristian Bush purusued solo careers. Jennifer released two albums — That Girl and Playing With Fire — while Kristian released Southern Gravity which featured the hit song “Trailer Hitch” in 2014. But those solo projects won’t influence the familiar sound of Sugarland.
Kristian Bush added, “We want to finish where we left off. We always knew were going to make music again, so this has been the best of both worlds. We were able to take time to feed our personal passions, and we’re excited to come back together to create music as a band again.”
Sugarland is set to perform at Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest from New York City’s Times Square and their new single will be available for download the week prior, on December 21.
