With Christmas just around the corner, there’s no better way to get ready for the festive season than grabbing a cup of hot chocolate, jumping in the car with the loved ones, and checking out all the Christmas lights that Metro Vancouver has to offer! The only problem is that I’ve never spent Christmas in Vancouver so I went to the JR Family and asked what are the definitive Christmas light spots in Vancouver?
Where Are The Best Spots in Metro Vancouver for Christmas Lights?
Van Dusen Gardens
Thanks to Darlene for letting me know about this one! Not only does this spot have one of the best selection of Christmas lights but also they have a carousel, dancing lights, a free to attend Santa’s Place and a Fireside Lounge.
Stanley Park
This one seems like a no-brainer for any Vancouverite as Stanley Park is a highlight with or without Christmas lights! During the holiday season, however, the Bright Nights Christmas Train and Stanley Park Train Plaza are covered with more than three million twinkling lights.
Tickets for the train are by donation but it is suggested that you give $5.
Lafarge Lake
Thanks to Rose for this recommendation! Its only the second year Lafarge Lake has done this event but year features hundreds of thousands of lights wrapping their way around the lake in multiple themed zones. Plus its free! Also Dogs, on a leash, are welcome.
But what if I live on the Island?
Well, no worries as Vancouver Island also has one of the best spots to check out the festive lights! Butchart Gardens does a 12 Days of Christmas showcase that features Colourful lights, carolers, ice skating and festive fare! However, I do hope you are better than me at skating cause last time I went I fell… A lot!
